SPY: Party Word Game

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 October 2026

SPY is a party word game made by Rimabel. The game runs on your device. There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours that stores your games.

What stays on your device

Player names, saved regulars, match history, statistics, custom word packs and your settings are written to this app's own storage on your phone. They are never uploaded to us. Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also wipe it from Settings → Reset inside the game.

What leaves your device

SPY contacts three kinds of services: one for word pack updates, one for ads and one for purchases. Here is everything that may be collected, by whom and why.

DataCollected byPurpose
Device ID (advertising and vendor identifiers the device exposes)Google AdMobThird-party advertising, analytics
Advertising data (which ads were shown and clicked)Google AdMobThird-party advertising, analytics
Product interaction (app launches, ad views)Google AdMobThird-party advertising, analytics
Crash data and performance dataGoogle AdMobAnalytics
Coarse location (estimated from IP address)Google AdMobThird-party advertising
Purchase history (SPY+ receipts)RevenueCatApp functionality
IP address and request timeGitHub (word catalog)Delivering the word pack catalog

None of this data is used to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. SPY does not ask for the App Tracking Transparency permission, and we never sell data.

Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. SPY requests non-personalized ads only, which means ad selection is not based on a profile built from your behaviour. To serve and measure an ad, Google still receives the technical data listed above.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before the first ad, and no ad is requested without it. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options. Google's handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

SPY+ removes ads entirely.

Purchases

SPY+ purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. Purchase receipts are verified through RevenueCat, which assigns your installation a random anonymous identifier so your purchase can be restored on the same store account. No name, email or phone number is attached to it. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Word pack updates

The app checks a public catalog hosted on GitHub when it opens and when it returns to the foreground. The request does not include player names, match history or statistics. GitHub may receive technical connection data such as your IP address and request time. See the GitHub privacy statement. The last valid catalog is saved on your device so the game works offline.

Photos

When you save a share card at the end of a night, the game asks for permission to add that image to your photo library. It only adds the image. SPY never reads your existing photos.

Microphone, camera, location, contacts

None of them are used or requested. The hints in SPY are spoken out loud at the table, not into the phone. The coarse location above is an estimate Google makes from the IP address, not a device permission.

Children

SPY is not directed at children under 13. One optional pack contains adult themes; it sits behind an age confirmation and can be hidden in Settings → Content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing on our side to export or delete. For ad-related data, the consent form and Google's controls apply. For purchase records, the store and RevenueCat process the store transaction. If you want any of this explained or acted on, write to us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version appears on this page.
